LITTLE LOVE BUG. If you're looking to raise a dog from the canine equivalent of the toddler stage, FUZZY may be for you. This little guy was born around mid-October 2013. He's now ready for someone who can spend a lot of time introducing him to new people, places and situations so that he grows into a confident, well-adjusted adult dog. This is the time to start crate-training in preparation for house training, as well. Because he is so young and small, Fuzzy needs an adopter who is either home a lot or a family with staggered schedules, because he needs a bathroom break every 3 to 4 hours, as well as 3 meals a day, lots of attention, handling and socialization. Additionally, we will not adopt a puppy this age to applicants with children under the age of 7. Why? Because both puppies and children require a lot of time and attention. Understandably, the children will usually get the lion's share, possibly to the pup's detriment. Also, younger children are still learning how to interact with animals, and busy parents can’t supervise those interactions 24/7. If you have the time, patience and love to adopt this tiny pup, download our application at www.savethestrays.org and apply today!

FUZZY’S PROFILE:

Breed(s): Mom is a cheweenie (chihuahua/wire-haired dachshund); we think dad was a schnauzer or schnauzer mix.

Gender: Intact male

Estimated birth date: Mid-October 2013

Weight: Under 5 lbs.

Health: excellent; Fuzzy has an inguinal hernia which can be repaired when he is neutered.

Energy level: Puppy! Lots of running around followed by deep sleep!

Good with other dogs: Yes

Grooming needs: Will require grooming. Fuzzy has a soft, longer coat that tangles easily. He will need regular brushing and/or trimming. We have already had to trim the knots out of his coat.

Bark factor: Lots of barking and whining at this age. Will likely cry through the night for the first week or so after separation from his siblings.

Behavioral issues: Still a little shy with strangers; otherwise, normal puppy behaviors.

Favorite activities: Playing, eating. Loves toys!

Adoption fee: $225, of which we will refund $100 upon receiving proof of that Fuzzy has been neutered at six months of age, as required by our adoption contract.
