This adorable hound baby is FLAPJACK. Born  in early November, Flapjack is full of life and personality. He and his sister run and wrestle, then come over for hugs and pets. After that, they rack out on the couch for a snuggle and snooze. Flapjack is eager to learn; show him a biscuit and he’ll turn himself inside out trying to please you. He already knows to get in his crate when asked. If you're looking for a literal love machine, Flapjack will fill the bill. But there are a few things we’re looking for in an adopter.

Puppies – especially at this age – need interaction and exposure to new people, places, and experiences/situations to maintain a friendly, outgoing personality and help them grow into a confident adult dog. They should be alone for no more than 4-5 hours a day. They need lots of love, attention, stimulation, a consistent routine and training. So we are looking for adopters who work from home (at least for the next 5-6 months), or are retired, not employed, or have a spouse or other adult relative that is home at different hours than the applicant.

Additionally, they can’t just be put in a crate or laundry room and left for the day. They need frequent potty breaks and exercise throughout the day (and sometimes during the night). They also can’t be left to run loose in the house without supervision because they aren’t house trained and will chew on everything they can get their teeth into. That can mean, not just damage to furniture and other belongings, but also risk of serious injury if the pup chews on a live electric cord.

Finally, we’re looking for adopters with a securely fenced yard attached to their house. Our puppies aren’t leash trained yet, so they need an area in which to stretch their legs, do their business and play while developing house dog skills, including learning to walk on leash.

Flapjack is also very social and would benefit from the company (and experience) of an older, well trained dog. This isn’t required, but older dogs often make good role models for pups, speeding their training and development. He would probably not be a good choice for a family with infants or toddlers because of the amount of work/attention a puppy this age requires (as do children that age).
