Exuberant is the word that best describes MALLORY, a 5-month-old whippet mix pup. Mallory is just so excited to meet everybody, human or canine, and will follow you everywhere. And play? Yes, please! If she can’t convince you or another dog to play with her, she’ll pick up a toy, toss it and catch it to amuse herself -- or even chase her own tail! Mallory has a lot of energy! She will make a wonderful companion for active adults and a great playmate for older kids (say, 7 or 8 on up). But she might be a bit boisterous for younger, smaller children. Some small dogs here at Save the Strays find her bounciness and enthusiasm intimidating, as well. Mallory will need a large, securely fenced yard in which to burn off some of that energy or, at the least, lots of long walks or jogs. She’s very graceful and athletic, so agility training would be another, fantastic way to engage her mind and body and bond with her adopter. Mallory is doing well with crate training and gets through most nights with no accidents. But daytime crating should be limited to no more than a couple of hours at a time, to accommodate potty needs. She seems to understand that she is to do her potty duties outside, so is well on her way to being house trained, but isn’t all the way there yet. If you’re looking for a pup with lots of personality and joie de vivre, Mallory’s a great choice. Her adoption fee is $200. Email Save the Strays for an application or more information.
