Bloodhound (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Large
BIG BEAUTIFUL BOY. If you like big dogs, you’ll love DUKE. This 14-month-old, purebred bloodhound weighs 82 lbs, so he’s definitely not a lapdog! He is loveable, though, and craves affection, so prepare to be greeted enthusiastically. Because of his size, we recommend working on basic commands with Duke, as well as making sure he gets regular exercise. He enjoys toys and would probably also enjoy playing with other dogs in his own size range. But, first and foremost, he wants human company. So, although he doesn’t necessarily have to be an indoor dog, we don’t want him left alone in the yard with human contact only at feeding time. Instead, we want an adopter who will spend quality time with him, whether that means hikes, playing fetch or similar activities. As a bloodhound, Duke has a natural talent for following scents and shows an inclination to do that, so we think he would make a good search and rescue dog with the proper training. Duke’s adoption fee is $200. However, WE WILL WAIVE THE ADOPTION FEE FOR A REPUTABLE, PROFESSIONAL SEARCH & RESCUE ORGANIZATION IF HE IS ADOPTED FOR THAT PURPOSE. Email info@savethestrays.org for more information or an adoption application. More about DukeGood with Dogs, Good with Kids Video of Duke:
